Why didn’t you make a peanut butter paste?

When we decided to increase our paste range, a peanut butter paste was an obvious place to start given rodent preference for it.  However after extensive field testing, we found that long term viability of a peanut butter paste was a challenge. It deteriorated relatively quickly, becoming mouldy and hard.

Given that long-life paste is a key aspect of our set and forget A24 it was an issue we needed to overcome and were able to do so with hazelnuts. Hazelnuts proved to be as attractive to rodents as the Chocolate paste while also having the added bonus of being safe for those with, or living with those who have severe peanut allergies.
