The CO2 Gas Canister
Introducing our C02 Gas Canister, the power that fuels your A24 trap. They're small but mighty, each Canister contains enough strikes for 24 humane kills on pests.
Replacing your CO2 Canister
- Remove the Digital Strike Counter from the old canister (if you're using one) by twisting it anti-clockwise and downwards.
- Unscrew your old canister clock-wise. You may hear some remaining gas in the canister escaping. This can cause the canister to freeze rapidly, so it’s a good idea to unscrew the gas canister using a cloth to protect your hands from cold burns. You can recycle the empty CO2 canister at your nearest scrap metal recycling facility.
- Although the gas canister has been removed, the trap may still be live with a charge remaining in its chamber. If you are going to shift your trap to a new position you should test fire it a couple of times to make it safe for transport. If there is still gas in the trap, the orange striker will be triggered. If nothing happens, all gas has been flushed out and the trap is safe to move.
- Remove the black cap on your new Canister, and screw it into the trap anti-clockwise. You may hear a brief hiss when the seal is broken but only for a half-second. You shouldn't need to use excessive force.
- Now your trap is good to go! Give it a test fire to make sure everything is working properly.

What should I do with the old Canisters?
We create products to protect nature, so leaving a light footprint on the environment is important to us. Our Canisters are made of steel which does not suffer any product degradation through the process of recycling so can be used and recycled endlessly. You can take them to your nearest scrap metal recycling facility. The Canisters are not refillable. If you find a cannister with the seal pierced at the top it will be fully expended and destined for recycling.
How do I know how much gas is left?
The best way to keep your traps effective and attractive to pests is by replacing the CO2 and paste every 6 months. You may not see every pest the trap has killed as a large percentage of them can be scavenged by other pests and predators. If you're using a Smart Cap or a Digital Strike Counter and can see that your trap has fired 24 times before the 6 months are up then replace your CO2 canister early and pat yourself on the back for ridding your environment of so many pests this quickly!
There is no way to know the exact amount of CO2 left in the trap at any given time, so stick to the 6 month (or 24 kill) cycle to ensure the trap has enough pressure to deliver a humane kill to every pest that enters the trap.
We recommend refreshing your paste at the same time, as our long life paste pump is designed to extrude fresh paste for six months also.
To see if your trap is live you can test fire it following these instructions.
The warranty for your A24 trap is 2 years however this is void if non-Goodnature gas canisters are used, which is why we ask customers to only use our Goodnature 16g Gas Canisters with our traps.
We tested a number of different gas canisters before we chose our current model. Here's how our gas canisters are different - and better suited to the task - than non-branded gas canisters:
- Our gas canisters are capped with a lubricant that ensures the long life of trap parts, and therefore the trap. Without this, the trap may leak or become faulty.
- Our gas canisters are sourced from a partner who guarantees no petrochemical residues from their factory machinery. This is important because some residues can cause the seals inside the trap to perish.
- The canisters have a protective coating, which helps prevent corrosion. This is important as our traps are designed to be used outdoors as well as indoors.
- We quality check the threads when the canisters arrive to ensure they are fit for purpose.
- Ours come with a cap to protect the top of the gas canister from debris.
