Trap Location Cards

Where you should you put your A24? Trap Location Cards are one of the best ways to get the most success out of your Goodnature trap by enabling you to think like a rat. To be a successful trapper, it’s really important that you assess (don’t guess), where to position your A24.

The location cards show you where rats in your area feel safe to eat. That’s the place you need to install your trap, even though it might be somewhere different from where you’ve seen or heard them.

How to use Trap Location Cards

  1. Tear the card from the holder
  2. Place any lure you like near the hole in the centre
  3. Fold over the location cards to expose some fresh lure
  4. Tape/screw/nail your cards in several places around home or trapping site (see the image below for some suggestions)
  5. Leave the location cards for three nights and monitor for signs of interaction. You should see clear signs of the pest's teeth on the cards, the cards with the most chew marks are a good spot to set up your trap.

Where should I put my Location Cards?

It's not always the spots where you see or hear rats that make the best trapping locations. Rats a cautious and will usually only stop to eat where they feel safe, so setting up your trap somewhere open is often not the best choice. Attach your cards in a variety of sheltered spots to find out where rats in your trapping area feel safe enough for a snack, such as the options suggested in the image below.

Find spots that are away from competing food sources such as compost bins, fruiting trees, or animal feed. Remove or restrict access to these alternative food sources for pests as much as possible. Read our helpful advice on how to do this here.

If you don’t have success with your trap in the first location, you can move it anytime. Moving the trap around will help you rid pests from different areas, and introduce fresh paste to pests within your property.

It's also super easy to make more location cards if you run out. All you need is some cardboard, a pair of scissors and some fresh lure!
